This municipal museum is housed in a building known as Casa Carvajal in the centre of the Historic-Artistic Site of Baiona. Its collection displays the historical, urban and social development of the town, highlighting the privileged trading relationship it had with both Europe and America and the significant role its harbour played in the history of Atlantic navigation.
This collection provides information about the historic heritage of the town through the exhibition of its own collections; antique documents from its historical archive; facsimiles related to the town, deposited and kept in other museums; artefacts found on archaeological sites and subaquatic excavations in the municipal area of Baiona and its coastline; and lastly, objects, documents and portolan charts from private collections.
