Located on the road that goes to Pedornes’ town centre, it’s one of the oldest buildings in Oia. The church’s history is intimately linked with the monastery of Oia. In 1137, the church was donated by Alfonso VII to the monastery and twelve years later everything was donated to the village of Pedornes. Two hundred years after, when it belonged to the diocese of Tui again, it was used in an exchange between the diocese and the monastery, which gave up the parishes of Estás, Forcadela and other two in Portugal. Even belonging to the monastery, the temple was still used as the parish church because Oia wasn’t considered a parish until 1841, when it was constituted by the bishop Francisco García Casarrubios y Melgar. Posteriorly, on the same year, he made it a completely independent parish. There are no remains from the primitive temple, even though, according to the traces preserved, it could occupy the current nave. This way, we can find a magnificent coat of arms of the monastery under a writing that recalls the year 1736, when the church was restored. Inside, we can see interesting altarpieces and on the atrium we can find a group of calvaries from an old via-crucis.
