Former Romanesque temple, restored in early 15th century and rebuilt during the 17th century by order of Gonzalo de Valladares, dedicating it to Saint Benedict.
The façade and the towers were built in 1784, as it reads on an inscription located over the access arch. It most remarkable elements are the two Baroque bell towers and its Gothic interior, where we must highlight the main vault, the two interior chapels, with the sepulchres of Gonzalo de Valladares and his wife María Ozores y Silva, and the main chapel, presided by a Baroque altarpiece. Two granite figures, known as the Balboas, wearing warlike clothes with a mace and a shield, guard the tombs of their lords located inside the sacred temple, as well as symbolically protect the square and the church.
