Requesón is a type of curd cheese dating back to the 12th century, when it was given to pilgrims coming from Portugal to As Neves, specifically to Sendeiro dos Frades. It was produced mainly in the parish of Cerceira. This food festival began to be celebrated in 1991 and was declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in 2013, becoming the only one in Galicia dedicated to a dessert. Additionally, the festival showcases many other typical products from the area.

Según los primeros testimonios escritos del siglo XII, los lugareños agasajaban a los peregrinos con este delicioso producto cuando pasaban por allí en su camino desde Portugal hasta A Franqueira, una ruta que hoy en día se conoce como Sendeiro dos Frades (Camino de los Frailes).
