This is the most important river in Galicia and the north of the Iberian Peninsula. It marks the border between the province of Pontevedra and its neighbouring country, Portugal, although they are connected by bridges. There is a navigable stretch at the end of the 307-km long river.

Existen varias leyendas relacionadas o entorno al río Miño, relacionadas con feiticeiras (hechiceras) que vivían en las cuentas del río, de ahí que los romanos cuando llegaron a la Península creían que el río Miño era un río embrujado.
