The name of this viewpoint refers to the shell-shaped sculpture by Lito Portela, which was designed for visitors to get inside of the structure to listen to the sea. Rising at 72 meters over sea level, the viewpoint is located in Costa da Vela, a place protected as a Special Area of Conservation. It overlooks the Ría de Vigo, including the Cíes Islands, in the south, and the Ría de Pontevedra, including the Ons Islands, in the north. According to legend, the devil, wanting to tempt Christ, looked towards the horizon and told him: “If you kneel before me and worship me, I will give you everything you see, except for Fefiñáns, Cambados and Santo Tomé”.
