The parish church of Santa María of Tourón is of Romanesque origin. It has only one nave, still preserved, as well as a door with a semicircular arch that nowadays houses the sacristy and another symmetrical one but closed off, all of them on the North side. The walls of the nave are integrally from that period, as well as the rectangular apse, but the cover and the windows were modified.   During the 18th century a Baroque chapel was opened on the North wall and the façade was reformed. It has two pointed archivolts supported by two pairs of pillars topped by capitals with scrolls with vegetal decoration. The tympanum has a large cross recently added. The double bell-gable is also recent. It has two bells and a cross that closes the set.   A little while ago, an old Romanesque baptismal font was found buried at the back of the church and is now part of the decoration of the atrium. In front of the façade there is a calvary from 1670, with a design of a skull and two crossbones on the base. On one side of the atrium, the republican circular stage from 1935 is still preserved.
