It was a Franciscan convent up until 1835 when the property was expropriated by the state and the monks had to leave. The building became a military training centre, for the first battalion of O Salnés. It was also a school and a prison later on. Lastly, it was demolished and the stones were used for the pier located in A Calzada, the “alameda de San Tomé” and to pave the access road of the convent. The temple replaced the former parish church of Santa Mariña. The most remarkable elements are the façade with multiple representations: the five holy wounds, figures representing Adam and Eve (each one inside a shell), representations of the founders in a praying position and the coat of arms of the Figueroa family.
