Alobre is a hillfort settlement located on a coastal promontory of past strategic importance in the town centre of O Montiño. Archaeological excavations revealed it was occupied during different periods of the late Iron Age. The artefacts recovered from the site are more than 20,000 objects of great archaeological value, including 240 bronze items in very good condition. Amongst them were several coins (such as the coin of Augustus, the Roman Emperor from 27 BCE to 13 CE, and a silver denarius, uncommon in Galicia) pins, hair pieces, parts of a ring, bronze pendants, armour buckles and fragments of pottery of different origins. Archaeological evidence reveals that Alobre was still occupied in the 4th and 5th centuries. Through the items uncovered we know that the settlement was a very important trading area due to its role as a port city. Some of them include fragments of a mortar from Baetica, Punic materials, Italian pottery and other Mediterranean artefacts
